THE STAGE IS SET FOR WIGS ON THE WATERFRONT - 2009
Preparations for Wigs on the Waterfront are now in full swing as Drag Artists and performers from around the country sign on for another celebration of fabulosity.
With the day's entertainment itinerary almost full, Event Organiser Wayne Nicholas has confirmed the MC's for the day. "I am delighted that Miss Mole, a regular visitor from Christchurch, will open the event at 11.00 a.m., followed by Pink Flight hostess and entertainer, Buckwheat, the iconic Miss Ribena, Drag Sisters Buffy & Bimbo and the outrageous Miss K, who will be on hand to close the show at 5.00 p.m. There will also be guest appearances by Suzanne Paul and Big 106.2 DJ's"
"Wigs on the Waterfront favourites such as Cindy of Samoa, Carmen, Lola & Summer, Gloriousole, Leanne Page, Daphne Bush, Vera & Doreen and Donna-Maree, will be joined by a host of entertainers including Kidz Rock, Alazare, Tami and Hugh Sweeney."
"Artists and crew who would like to volunteer can download the registration form at the top of this page, thanks to GayNZ.com for their ongoing support, or you can contact Wayne at
wayne.wains@clear.net.nz
"We are amazed by the support we have received from our sponsors this year," Nicholas added. "Auckland's brand new Auckland wide radio station Big 106.2 FM is providing advertising right up to the event from Monday 2nd February, they will have the Big 106.2 promotions team crossing live from the event, and will broadcast any cancellation information throughout the morning, and Charlie's will be sending their Charlie's Angels along with samples of their new Honest Juice range, as well as supplying our volunteers with water and juice."
"Thanks to prize sponsors Natural Glow, Antique Fabric & Lace, and Brian Andrews Photography, our judges will be keeping an eye on the audience throughout the day awarding prizes and gift packs to audience members for best wig, most fabulous outfit and best hat," said Nicholas. "We will also have prizes for the performers, and more information on the categories will be advertised on GayNZ.com very soon."
"Many of the Viaduct restaurants such as Soul, Mecca and Kermadec also support the event," Nicholas said, "and we know that tables are booking fast, so anyone wanting to reserve a table should do so as soon as possible."
