United Kingdom: Hatemongers Need Not Apply…

Posted by: Craig Young

Last week, I bumped into a transwoman who was in Wellington to protest against a group of fascist lowlifes trying to subvert Flag Day to draw attention to their verminous inhumane excuse for a philosophy.

What’s worse, one of them was an import- one Jim Saleaam, noted for his past record of organised racist violence, sometimes involving firearms. Why was this Australian white supremacist ratbag allowed into this country?

It is to be hoped that New Zealand takes notice of the UK Home Office, which has just announced new measures to stop Muslim extremists, overseas radical animal rights terrorists, and  “others” (which might also include the likes of the Phelpses from Topeka, and advocates of radical anti-abortion terrorism).

The Home Office ban includes those who encourage, enable or assist terrorism within the United Kingdom. In cases where the extremist in question has renounced his or her earlier views, they must provide proof that this occurred in a public context. It includes European nationals if they are engaged in such activity, which might well be directed at overseas EU white supremacist agitators. There will be increased surveillance and attention to such matters, and, according to PinkNews and the UK Gay News websites, they will also include homophobic hatemongers.

Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi is one such excluded figure. In the past, he has advocated Palestinian suicide bombings against civilian Israelis, and advocating execution of lesbians and gay men through stoning.

In a related BBC News item, the head of the Islamic Medical Association, GP Muhammed Siddiq, was recently suspended for one year over a letter sent to Pulse, the GP’s magazine.

The GMC found Dr Siddiq initially apologised, citing stress, then blamed his son for the letter, which alleged gay men were carriers of STIs and said we ‘prey on society’ when questioned by a Pulse journalist.

In April 2007, Dr Siddiq had also refused to heed an assessment related to his ability to perform minor surgery and circumcisions. GMC Chair Andrew Popat condemned his actions, and was concerned that the aforementioned correspondence would undermine public confidence and bring the profession into ill-repute.

Dr Siddiq has attacked the GMC, arguing that he didn’t get a fair hearing after dismissing his barrister last week.

Meanwhile, it seems that Victorian Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu agrees with the idea. He’s asking federal Australian PM Kevin Rudd to insure that neofascist British National Party leader Nick Griffin is banned from visiting Australia, as occurred in 1998, under the Howard administration.
